Fire dancers light up Waterworks Park on nights of a new moon

Passing by Waterworks Park at Interstate 5 and Highway 299 during the dark of a new moon, drivers witness displays of whirling flame and awed crowds.

Local fire performer Adrionah Hodges and her boyfriend, Josh Hottel, plan this monthly event in Redding to coincide with the beginning of the lunar cycle. They aim to “bring a new form of art to Redding and unite Northern California fire dancers and artists,” Hodges said. They originally performed at the Burning Man festival....

Anderson jump-starts Independence Day; Fireworks tonight at Shasta District Fairgrounds

For the past 20 years, South County residents have kicked off the July 4 holiday a bit early with Anderson Explodes! – a fireworks show July 3 at the Shasta District Fair grounds that has evolved into a half-day celebration.

And this year is no exception.
