Fire Dancer

Desert Flower

I was first exposed to fire dancing at the Burning Man Festival in 2005. I was mesmerized by the fluid movements of the fire dancers, and the flames that encircled them. At that time, I knew no one that could teach me, where to purchase products, or even what the styles were called aside from fire dancing.

I bought my first set of poi in 2009, but let them sit for two months on the front porch of the home I was occupying in the Virgin Islands. When I finally returned home, I watched a safety video, and then 15 minutes of an instructional video. I practiced for 30 minutes, and then visited a friend I had learned also spins. She asked me if I was ready to try it with fire. Even though I had intended on studying the art form for a year and acquiring flame retardant clothing first, I said "Yes!" From the moment the roar of fire whizzed past my face, and caught in the eyes of the audience, I was hooked.

Since then, I have performed for weddings, reunions, festivals, 21+ events, theme parks, corporate events, luaus, birthdays,  and more. I eagerly await sharing with you a thrilling experience that will assuredly astonish your guests.
